Terms of reference
In 2021 Hivos started to implement a new Strategic Compass. To deliver on our mission and strategic ambitions, we additionally set an organizational goal for income growth.
Building on our current donor portfolio, we are looking for new markets and products. We want to specifically focus on those donors that align with our compass ambitions, but also offer flexibility and allow Hivos to take risks.
Together with the Head of the Business Development Unit in Hivos, the consultant is leading the process to develop a business case for income growth with the focus on institutional funding (bi- and multilateral donors, foundations etc.).
The business case/investment plan needs to outline how Hivos can expand its market and/or develop new products to realize a growth of income with 30% so that the organization reaches an annual budget of up to 97 mil. Euro annually (2024 – 2027).
Deliverables
Develop a business case to achieve income growth of 30%, in which our assumptions are checked and the consultant provides insights and direction based on their own expertise. This involves scoping new donors, new markets, new products etc.
Experience
For this project, we’re looking to recruit a consultant that has:
- Experience in strategic marketing and growth strategizing in the development sector.
- Analytical skills to ‘translate’ geo-political/donor trends into actionable plans, related to the vision/mission and impact areas of Hivos.
- Expertise in global institutional fundraising, and the ability to identify various opportunities to maximize share of donor wallet in particular markets and sectors and recommend the organizational changes that would be needed to achieve this.
