Since 2016, the Energy Change Lab has worked on a project to ensure that electricity can be used for economic and social gain. Going beyond electricity for household use, people are now using electricity to run businesses and improve their income.
The Energy Change Lab in cooperation with CEFA has developed a mobile unit, travelling from village to village, showing entrepreneurs how to maximize their own economic opportunities. In this video, you can meet people from the Tanzanian village of Matembwe who are using electricity from a mini-grid to start up and increase their businesses. Now, houses are now built faster, the infrastructure has improved, and welders and hairdressers generate more income.
