Together with citizens and their organizations, we aim to contribute towards just, inclusive and life sustaining societies where people have equal access to opportunities, rights and resources. We work in partnership with others in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America on three impact areas: Civic Rights in a Digital Age; Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Climate Justice. Request for proposal: team building for Hivos staff in East Africa

The team building is a 2-day event scheduled to take place on January 25 & 26, 2023. The first half day is aimed at internal discussions and the remaining day and a half is aimed at team building initiatives. Hivos’ hub in East Africa has a staff count of 50 people.

Objective of the assignment

  • Teamwork for purposes of boosting team performance, which leads to a cohesive team that understands individual roles and their links to the organizations’ overall objectives
  • Relationship building among and across teams
  • Improving communication contributing to the positive working culture

Expectations

Overall, the expectation is to develop interactive team building sessions aimed at identifying deliberate harmonization of the organization, which ultimately informs the way Hivos works and its culture as hub East Africa.

  • Design a fun and well-rounded program for the team building process (1.5 days) with a proper assigning of time to each activity
  • Design well thought out activities that:
    • Will bring in different ideas and perspectives that lead to problem solving in diverse teams
    • Open up dialogue and promote creativity while valuing the diversity of our cultures and staff from other countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, Uganda)
  • The program should improve relationship building and communication horizontally and vertically

  • A team committed to the organizational culture noting ownership and the way people plug in
  • Alignment of staff to the purpose of Hivos, starting from each individual self
  • Improved relationships with individuals and teams
  • Great team work and support all around
  • Relaxed and energized team

Qualifications / experiences required

  • Proven track record of extensive experience (at least 5 years) in facilitation of events and team building
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the operations of international organizations and like-minded organizations
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills including experience of facilitation of events and presentation to groups of various sizes and different nationalities
  • A creative way to provide a fun 1.5 days full of engaging activities
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion while designing and implementing the sessions

Proposal submission

  • Brief profile on the lead consultant (max. 1.5 pages) and the accompanying team members explaining why they are the most suitable for the work
  • Accompanying this profile should be the CV of all the consultants that will be part of the engagement
  • Relevant experience (max. 2 pages) and accompanying detailed signed reference list indicating the scope and magnitude of similar assignments (should be over the last 3 years)
  • A proposed course outline in PowerPoint capturing the content areas for the team building in line with the objectives stated
  • Outline of proposed activities, including a summary of the program of activities
  • Registration and other relevant statutory documents required
  • Financial proposal in KES clearly showing the budgeted cost for the work to be conducted
  • The preferred format for the submission is PowerPoint
