Be part of the LGBTI political leadership meeting in Honduras

August 17, 2015

Honduras will host the meeting of LGBTI political leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean, to be held on the 2nd & 3rd of October in the city of Tegucigalpa. Registration for this event is now open.

The meeting, which has the support of Hivos, aims to be a space for reflection, dialogue and exchange of experiences between lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex leaders (LGBTI) and allies.

The event will pinpoint progress, challenges and good practices in the processes of political participation of LGBTI people in the region. It will also promote and bring more visibility to their political participation at the local, national and international levels.

Those participating in the meeting will enjoy two days of discussions, training, skills development and networking.

Attendance is open to openly LGBTI people or allies who are promoting greater political participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people in the region from a leadership position. The invitation is similarly extended to:

  • those who hold an elected office, a position of trust within government or public administration, positions of responsibility within a political party
  • candidates who have been and/or will be candidates in the near future
  • LGBTI leaders, who due to their work in civil society or the business world, are interested in increasing the diversity of political representation in the region.

Since 1990, Hivos has supported the struggles of LGBT populations for their rights and against homophobia in different parts of the world.
