Hivos Latin America has joined the Sustainable Development Solutions Network

October 12, 2020

We are pleased to announce that we are members of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network – SDSN!

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was created in 2012 under the auspice of the Secretary General of the United Nations and world leaders from all regions of the world to promote innovative and practical initiatives with the purpose of pursuing the 2030 Agenda and the compliance of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local, national, regional and global levels.

In order to build an agile global network made up of academic organizations, civil society, companies, governments and international organizations, the SDSN has divisions by subject and region as shown below.

Earlier in the year, Hivos America Latina applied to be part of the network, and have been accepted both at SDSN Andes and SDSN Amazonia.

SDSN Amazonia, mobilizes local knowledge in the search for solutions to the challenges of sustainable development in each country that composes the Amazon Basin. This network focuses on education for sustainable development, offering a number of online and in-person training programs, and the dissemination of solutions and good practices for achieving the SDGs throughout the region.

Recently, the Amazon Indigenous Health Route, an initiative of Hivos through the All Eyes on the Amazon program, was awarded the first place of the SDSN Amazônia Award, a recognition  to innovative initiatives to respond to the challenges of sustainable development in the Amazon. SDSN Amazônia is hosted by the Fundação Amazônia Sustentável (FAS) in Manaus, Brazil, and currently has over 160 members enrolled throughout the region.

We are excited to be able to work closely with FAS and the members of SDSN Amazonia and SDSN Andes to achieve the 2030 Agenda and the fulfillment of the SDGs in the region.
