The Hivos Media and Accountability Program has launched its second call for proposals open to civil society organizations (CSO), social change groups, media, research institutes, associations and private enterprises working on transparency and accountability issues in Latin America.
Topics of the call include: transparency and accountability, democratic processes (e.g. election monitoring), citizen engagement, journalism (citizen journalism, journalistic innovation, data journalism), use of open data and any topic related to access to information and government accountability.
The call will remain open from February 12 to the application deadline on March 12. At the end of March, the twelve proposals selected will be announced. In addition to funding, all projects will receive mentorship and technical assistance by a specialized team of professionals. After the experimenting and prototyping phase, a number of projects will be selected for seed capital aimed at scaling up the prototypes. Apply here (only in Spanish)
The Media, Transparency and Accountability Program, supported by the Swedish Cooperation Development Agency (SIDA), is an extension of Hivos’ current Expression and Engagement program, aimed at supporting experimentation laboratories, exchange networks and specialized training.
