This publication discusses decolonial and feminist responses to the climate crisis. It is written by 23 women authors from eight countries in the Global South. Hivos and Instituto Eqüit compiled their stories about women leaders in the areas of macroeconomics, climate emergencies, work of care, mental health, food security, financing feminist and decolonial futures and combating environmental racism.
This collections of stories features decolonial and feminist responses to the climate crisis. Authors from Senegal, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, Tunisia, Indonesia, Colombia, and all regions of Brazil contribute knowledge, experiences, ideas, and solutions.
Our research shows that adopting a perspective that combines ecofeminism and climate justice can lead to the development of local and global climate tools and actions that:
- strengthen solutions born and created in the Global South and by communities
- do not destroy traditional cultures and systems in the Global South
- do not overload women and communities with work
- do not reinforce the colonial and imperialist influence of the past
