This booklet brings together stories that show what it means for young women to claim their sexual and reproductive rights in Honduras, one of the region’s most restrictive contexts.
These are the lived realities of women with disabilities who are overprotected, young women living with HIV who still face discrimination, and LBT and migrant women who navigate stigma at every turn. Their stories reflect what Ligia Destephen captures so clearly in her foreword: “Meaningful change can only happen when women themselves, in all their diversity, raise their voices and lead the transformations they need.” Their advocacy has already led to milestones such as restoring access to emergency contraception after more than a decade and securing a national protocol for survivors of sexual violence.
This booklet also honors the alliances, organizations, and community leaders who stood behind these wins; from youth networks pushing for change to the Honduras Community of Action who ensured rightsholders had space to organize and lead. In a country where political resistance has long limited SRHR progress, these stories remind us that collective action can shift even the most entrenched barriers. They invite the reader to witness courage in motion and to see how Honduran women are steadily reshaping the future of their rights, one victory at a time.
