From pathway transformation to systemic change

An Integrated Framework for Understanding and Interpreting Change in Urban Food Systems

This publication presents a methodological framework for understanding and analyzing the transformation of urban food systems through four pathways of change: governance, narratives, sustainable practices, and financial flows. It introduces analytical guidance and maturity matrices to assess progress across these pathways. The publication also provides an approach to identifying how these processes contribute to broader systemic transformation, placing youth and women’s leadership at the heart of building more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient food systems.
