30 June – 1 July 2019, the meeting will bring together governments and leaders from all sectors including business, local authorities, civil society, and the UN system, and youth representatives.
The central purpose of the Abu Dhabi Climate Meeting is to take stock of progress so far across all the Action Areas of the Climate Action Summit, and identify and develop proposals, based on the criteria established for initiatives to be considered for announcement at the Summit.
In these ways, the Abu Dhabi meeting is intended to focus the work across all Action Areas in support of the desired outcomes of the Summit: announcements of far greater ambition, backed up by clear plans, and of bold actions – whether through the Coalitions, or by individual governments – to be implemented and scaled up after the Summit.
Our colleague Rita Poppe will attend the meeting with the aim of presenting a new clean cooking proposal to spur progress in access to clean cooking.
